What are "multiple account"?
Apps cannot distinguish between two id.ai accounts of the same identity vs. two completely separate id.ai identities. When switched on upon sign in, this represents a different user in a particular app. This is convenient for testing. However, most users don’t ever need multiple accounts.
To activate this feature:
- To activate the feature, start the sign in process into an app, e.g., https://nns.ic0.app/
- Before you continue, toggle the Enable multiple accounts slider; this will require signing in to the current identity.
- Then you get to see the list of all your accounts
- Important: These accounts are just for the app you are currently signing into.
- The account names are not passed to the app, they are just for you to differentiate multiple accounts in that app.
- You may test this feature easily and safely by clicking on + Add another account and choosing a name for it, e.g., “Test Account”
- Setting an account as default means that the next time you sign in to this app, the Continue button will pick that account for you. Choosing to sign in with a non-default account requires repeating from step 2 in these instructions.
- Account names can be edited, but be careful not to confuse yourself by entering ambiguous names that you might not recognize after a while!
- Currently, accounts cannot be deleted to avoid accidental loss of funds.
- You can change which account is the default at any time, starting from step 2 in these instructions.
