On your browser, go to id.ai. Click Sign in in the top right and then click on Continue with Passkey.
Click, Upgrade
Enter your existing Internet Identity Number (also known as anchor) and click Continue.
Authenticate using an existing passkey. Name your identity. This will label your new passkey. Keep in mind you cannot rename it later.
Click Upgrade identity.
If you're using a browser that supports WebAuthn, you will be asked to save the passkey. Google Chrome is shown in this example – depending on the browser being used, the UI may be slightly different.
To continue with creating a passkey, click Next. Alternatively, you may create a Passkey using a different method by clicking on Save another way.
You will be asked to authenticate to create the passkey.
You have now upgraded your Internet Identity. On the manage screen, you can add additional access methods such as passkeys, security keys, and linked accounts. You can also activate your recovery phrase if you haven't done so already. If you have an active recovery phrase already, you may also verify it to ensure you saved it correctly (your Legacy Identity recovery phrase migrates to your new Internet Identity).
